My Gift Basket Journey
In 2000, I was inspired to enter the gift basket industry after learning to make a fruit basket from a friend. At the time, I was working as an Administrative Assistant in a corporate marketing department. I came across a book on starting a gift basket business, and it felt like a sign. Encouraged, I took my first steps by buying supplies from a contact who was selling hers, joining a community of professional gift basket makers, and investing in learning the craft through classes and trade shows.

Initially trained to make gourmet food baskets, my creative spark ignited when a church member requested a custom gift basket for her husband's birthday, filled with non-food items like shirts, ties, and a baseball cap. I used a small suitcase as the container, applying the same principles I learned for food baskets. The highlight was hiding his favorite team’s cap, making it a delightful surprise. Seeing his joy when he discovered it showed me the impact of personalized, thoughtful gifts. I decided to focus on creating personalized gift baskets with unique, reusable containers tailored to each recipient. This approach allows me to craft memorable gifts that truly resonate with both the giver and the receiver.
